The holidays should be a joyous time and I resent that the Republican-controlled Congress has stepped on some of our frivolity by passing a Tax Reform/Cut bill that is an abomination to the majority of U.S. citizens. Contrary to 45’s boast, this legislation is not a “big beautiful Christmas gift.” It’s “stolen treasure” for the wealthiest among us and for Congressional members who wish to enrich themselves.
I have tried to focus on other things, but when I think about this for an extended period of time, I alternate between wanting to scream or cry. I have always been a student of politics and history, and, in my opinion, this is the most soulless political maneuver that I’ve witnessed in my lifetime. But I won’t scream or cry. I will fight for what is right. And I will continue to look forward to the 2018 mid-term elections when we-the-people vote and give the Congressional offenders-of-the-people one-way tickets back to their districts. I can’t think of a better gift than one that forces these representatives to live among their hurt, angry and unforgiving constituents.
Now, that I’ve vented a bit, I will wrap my holiday gifts in smiles, laughter and hugs. And a joyous, loving spirit will radiate from me, so that I can positively touch as many people as possible.
So, to all the wonderful people in my life and those I have yet to meet, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy Holidays!
