It’s hard to believe that I haven’t posted since April 17 when I shared my opinion about the Starbucks Philadelphia incident in “Trying”. To date, this post has received the most comments of any that I have written. Thanks for reading, for commenting and for giving Starbucks the opportunity to fix the issue.
During my “silent period”, I have been writing and writing some more. I spent several days composing my commencement address that I will deliver at the undergraduate convocation of my alma mater, Michigan State University (MSU), on Friday, May 4 at 1 pm EDT/10 am PDT, where I will also receive an honorary doctorate of humanities. This is a great honor and I want to get it right, so drafting my speech was my single focus. By the time I wrapped it up, put a bow on it, submitted it to MSU for review and waited for feedback, my self-imposed blog writing and posting deadline had passed. Sorry if you missed me, but I’m back.
Now I am focusing on my delivery, which must be done without the benefit of a teleprompter. Ouch! I’ll need to reference the hard copy, which means the type face must be big and bold, or I’ll just wear cute readers.
Just thinking about this event makes me smile, and I am honored as well as overwhelmed by the congratulations and encouragement I have received from family members, friends, and business associates. Thank you for propelling me forward, and if you would like to be with me on this very special occasion in my life via streaming, here’s the link: https://commencement.msu.edu/.
