Guilty!
- On August 22, 2018
I have been moving through my life at lightening speed since I last posted on July 24, and now it’s time to catch up with myself. But before I do, I must admit that today “guilty” is my new favorite word since Paul Manafort, 45’s former campaign chairman, was found guilty on eight criminal charges, and Michael Cohen, 45’s former lawyer and personal fixer, pleaded guilty to illegally interfering in the 2016 election at the direction of the president and other crimes. Now we must patiently wait for all the other swamp creatures’ guilty pleas/verdicts for their despicable crimes! It just can’t come soon enough, but I believe it’s coming.
A lot has happened in the world over the past 30 days, but my oh, oh my, Omarosa! Even though she has tried to redeem herself in a new book and on her media tour, who can forget that she helped to elect an obvious racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic man to the most revered and powerful position in the world? He has spectacularly sullied the honorable office of the U.S. presidency with swamp muck, and he spewed his muck in Omarosa’s face when he called her a dog. We know that she is not a dog, and that she nor any other African-American woman or person should be referred to using such a nasty slur. She’s just an opportunistic, social climber who will sink her high heels into your back as she walks on you to get what she wants. So, if I see her or anyone like her coming my way, I will steer clear and let her behavior drag her into oblivion and irrelevance.
Now that I’ve said it, I must admit that during our dysfunction caused by the person in the White House, I have desperately tried to make the best of my days. I think I am succeeding with assistance from my friends, who helped me celebrate my birthday on July 31 with gifts, cards, texts and phone calls. Thanks everyone for remembering me on my special day and helping me to hang on to all the “positives” that make me smile.
I’d like to share a few photos that highlight some of my guilty pleasures.

Michelle, Yolanda and Edie took me on a birthday Happy Hour Crawl. We were done after one drink!

I celebrated my birthday with colleagues/clients at the Schultz Family Foundation…so sweet and I love cupcakes!

It’s nice to be remembered!

My birthday dinner with extended family (L to R: Buzz, Mollie, Sean, Sandy, me, and Bernie) was a blast!

Eileen (L) prepared a special birthday dinner at her beautiful home facing Puget Sound for me and introduced me to her wonderful friend, Shaun.

I rocked out for a good cause at the Seattle Pearl Jam concert to fight homelessness.

I’m so glad that Deidra and Rick invited me to dinner so could spend time with the Sasanuma family. I’ve watched Sasha (18) and Julia (21) and their twin brothers, Andrew (21) and Christopher (18) grown into smart, beautiful adults. I am so proud of them.

It was great hanging out on Vashon Island, WA, with the ladies in the downtown walking group.

(L to R) Heather, me, Pamela, Tom and Janice (not pictured) celebrated the premiere of Pamela’s latest documentary, The GForce, at Chicago’s Black Harvest Film Festival on August 12. It’s a thought-provoking documentary about grandparents raising grandchildren. It’s excellent. Congratulations, Pamela.
